National Jersey Youth Production Contest
The National Jersey Youth Production Contest is open to all AJCA junior members living in the United States. Ten (10) awards are given every year in two divisions: (1) limited to first-lactation cows calving before reaching 30 months of age, and (2) all other cows. Participants are eligible for an award in only one division, and an overall contest winner will be recognized.
Records completed on AJCA Performance Programs:
All 305-day records will be available on the AJCA database. To confirm, log on to infoJersey.com and request the Performance-Progeny report for your cow(s).
DHIA Records:
When DHIA records are submitted, send the individual cow page listing the 305-day lactation.
All entries must be received by the AJCA on or before March 1, 2021. Entries will not be accepted after this date.
Records will be standardized on a 305-day, 2x m.e. basis using factors provided by the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB), then ranked by dollar value calculated using the FMMO protein, butterfat, and other solids values for the previous year, plus a weighted average PPD.
Awards will be announced in the September issue of Jersey Journal and presented at the Youth Awards Ceremony in Louisville, Ky. A total of $550.00 (first, $100.00; second, $75.00; third, $50.00; and fourth, $25.00 in each division, plus an additional $50.00 to the overall winner) plus plaques and special awards will be presented. Recognition certificates will be sent to every participant.
